Acupuncture

Jake Jensen, DVM, is currently scheduling acupuncture appointments for horses and dogs. Dr. Jensen is a certified Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist (cVMA). He completed his acupuncture training at CuraCore Integrative Medicine & Education Center in Fort Collins, CO where he studied under many outstanding professors from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

Acupuncture is a therapy that utilizes needles inserted through the skin in specific areas to treat myofascial trigger points, stimulate local and regional physiologic effects, and modulate the central nervous system. In addition to dry needling, acupuncture can be performed with pressure (acupressure), electrical stimulation (electroacupuncture), and injections (aquapuncture).

Acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain, musculoskeletal disorders, and neurologic dysfunction. Dr. Jensen also integrates Diagnostic Acupuncture Examination (DAPE) into each of his lameness exams to aid in the diagnosis of lameness and poor performance in horses.
